The Challenge
When COVID-19 forced courts nationwide to rapidly transition to virtual proceedings, judicial systems faced unprecedented challenges. Existing video conferencing tools weren't designed for the unique requirements of legal proceedings.
Key Problems
- •Participant identification: Zoom's default labeling often displayed device names, making it impossible to verify participant identity, which is critical for legal proceedings.
- •Case organization: Courts managing 20+ participants across multiple cases had no way to group individuals by case number.
- •Language support: Courts needed to identify participants requiring translation services before cases began.
- •Resource strain: Staff spent excessive time manually renaming participants and coordinating case calls.
Our Solution
We partnered with court administrators to develop zconnect.io, the only solution specifically designed to address the unique challenges of Zoom court days while respecting established judicial workflows.
Core Capabilities
- •Bi-lingual registration: Participants complete a registration process providing their name, role, case number, and translation needs. Available in English and Spanish.
- •Automated grouping: The platform automatically groups participants by case number, enabling court staff to admit entire case groups with a single click.
- •Role identification: Participants select their role (attorney, defendant, witness, family member, observer) during registration.
- •Case docket control panel: A comprehensive dashboard allows judges and staff to manage the day's proceedings efficiently.
